Explore the biodiversity of southern Madagascar, a land of contrasts.Isalo National Park is a must do when coming to Madagascar. It is included in a bigger tour, driving down of the National Road number 7. Here are the stages that will lead you to Isalo National Park :

Highlands: The national road n°7 leads straight to the south staring from Antananarivo. Highland’s typical towns and landscapes are on the way: houses made of red clay with tiles or thatch roofs, surrounded by rice fields and other cultures. This first part of your journey is a agricultural area.

Antsirabe : first stop in the of spa town Antsirabe. Located in a former volcanic area, you can do walks around the volcanic lakes of Tritriva or Andraikiba. Visit of the city center is also interesting with the city spa and the old colonial architecture.

Ambositra : here you will discover the Zafimaniry woodcarving art, listed as a world heritage by UNESCO.

Train trip between Fianarantsoa and Manakara : allows you to enjoy the tropical landscapes between each train stations. Railway is often the only way to come in this remote areas.

Ranomafana National Park: Visit the huge rain forest of Ranomafana national park, full of botanical, ornithological and herpetological and variety. A dream place for nature lovers.

Tsaranoro Valley and Andringitra National Park: Discover the huge granite domes of Tsaranoro Valley. Inside the valley you can visit the sacred forest, home of ring-tailed Catta lemurs, the waterfall, and the natural swimming pool. You can also meet with the Bara Bory ethnic group: an unique opportunity to discover the malagasy lifestyle of this isolated population. From the valley, you can start a tour inside Andringitra National Park, especially the hike to the 2nd summit of Madagascar : Peak Boby.

Isalo National Park: Very different from Andringitra National park, we switch from granite mountains to a combination of sandstone rocks cut by eroded deep canyons, bush plains and rare endemic plants like Pachypodium and Aloe. This Park is very rewarding just for the endless view. The “Natural swimming pool” and the “Maki canyons” tours are the must do inside Isalo National Park.

Beach Holidays extension: At the end of your trip, you will reach Tulear city. It is the end of the National Road no7, no way to drive more down. 2 options are available, either fly back to Antananarivo or take a break in one of the 3 beach destinations in Tulear’s region: Ifaty, Anakao or Salary.
