Description

Iharana Bush Camp is located in front of the “small” Grey Tsingy of Ankarana (For the tour with the “Great Tsingy of Ankarana”, see our tour Nosy Be Island). It is an interesting stopover on your way to northern Madagascar as it is not far from Ambilobe, the crossroad city between the boat to Nosy Be and the road to Diego Suarez.

Iharana bush camp is more than a classic hotel: In front of a lake with tsingy overhanging, just nearby the Mahavavy river, the landscape is just outstanding. You can feel the power and the uniqueness of nature here. In the middle of nowhere, you will not find TV, nor phone, nor Air condition.

The owner of the establishment has decided for charm and authenticity with a limited impact on the environment when building the hotel. The construction is inspired by the best building techniques from traditional Malagasy architecture. Geothermic principles are optimized here. Don’t expect for a luxury and close bungalow. The 8 “cabanas” let as much as possible the air go through to manage the heat naturally. Decoration is also very local with lost of inspiration from the Malagasy handcraft. Sleeping in Iharana Bush Camp is experimenting the traditional home of Madagascar, rustic but comfortable.

To keep you busy during the day, Iharana Bush Camp offers massages in front of the Tsingy, you can swim in the natural pool and have a very exclusive meal on the islet in the middle of the lake! For excursions, you can walk through the tsingy thanks to a path adapted by a French speleologist. The pirogue tour on the lake is also a must do. Otherwise you can bike around the hotel. At last, night walks can also be organized to see nocturnal lemurs.

Extension available from Iharana Bush Camp to Nosy Be, Tsingy of Ankarana, Diego Suarez.
